Dr. Floris Groenendaal is registered as a neonatologist since 1 April 1993. Since then he has been working as a consultant/associate professor at the University Medical Center Utrecht/Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, department of Neonatology. His main field of interest is ‘Neonatal Neurology’, in particular acquired brain lesions due to lack of oxygen around birth (‘perinatal asphyxia’). After finishing and defending his PhD thesis in 1988 he has published several scientific papers and chapters in textbooks on this subject. The scientific papers can be found on www.pubmed.gov . In 2012 Floris Groenendaal obtained a master degree in clinical epidemiology at the Julius Center of the Utrecht Univeristy. For several years he has been a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the Medical Ethics Committee on human research of the University Medical Center Utrecht and the Utrecht University. Because of Floris Groenendaal’s expertise he has been asked several times per year to give an expert opinion on the medical treatment by ob/gyns and pediatricians of infants with severe perinatal diseases and presumed medical malpractise. Since 2019 Floris Groenendaal is member of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Medisch Specialistische Rapportage ( www.nvmsr.nl ). |
